Elizabeth Kathryn Wood, 45, of Metuchen, N.J., died Jan. 17, 2013 in New Brunswick, N.J.
Elizabeth was born on Oct. 11, 1967, the daughter of Robert H. and Kathleen M. (McFarland) Wood, in Starkville, Miss. An Army brat, she attended school in a number of states and in West Berlin, Germany, graduating from Leilehua High School in Wahiawa, Hawaii. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1992 from the University of Georgia in Athens, Ga.
She lived in New York City for nearly twenty years, moving to Metuchen three years ago.
She spent the majority of her career in health care. She worked for health plans that concentrate in government programs and specialized in provider relations. Elizabeth's most recent positions were at Amerigroup of New Jersey and WellCare of New Jersey and New York. She was well-respected by her colleagues.
Outside of work, she loved Russian novels, fine wine, travel, and, above all, the New York Yankees. She was a triathlete and completed the New York City Marathon. She was a proud alumna of Berlin American High School and active in the Berlin Brats organization. She was a member of the Central Park Conservancy and the New York Road Runners.
She was a light in the life of everyone who knew her.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her brother, Robert H. Wood Jr., of Grand Forks, N.D. She is survived by her parents, Robert H. and Kathleen M. Wood of Fort Collins; a sister, Suzanne M. (Mike) Koziatek of Belleville, Ill.; a sister-in-law, Charlotte V. Wood of Grand Forks; nephews Nicholas Z. (Brittany) Wood of St. Paul, Minn., William C. Wood and Benjamin R. Wood, both of Grand Forks, and Michael H. Koziatek of Belleville; a niece, Julia H. Koziatek of Belleville; and countless friends.
A memorial service was held Jan. 22 in Metuchen. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, January 27th at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 300 West Mountain Ave., Ft. Collins. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28, at St. Joseph's with the Rev. Steven Voss officiating. Interment will follow the Mass at Roselawn Cemetery, 2718 East Mulberry St., Fort Collins. A luncheon will follow the interment in Meredith Hall at St. Joseph's.
