With hearts shattered by grief, we announce the passing of our beloved Hezekiah Ranen Maes on May 25, 2026, at the age of 23. There are no words sufficient to describe the depth of this loss. Hezekiah was deeply loved and leaves behind a void that can never truly be filled. He was a cherished son, brother, nephew, uncle, grandson, cousin, and friend. More than the titles he carried, he was a light in the lives of those who knew him—a young man whose kindness, creativity, humor, and love left an unforgettable mark on the world around him. Hezekiah had a smile that could brighten a room and a heart that naturally drew people in. He never met a stranger. Whether greeting someone with a warm smile, offering a helping hand, or stopping to ask how someone was doing, he made people feel valued and seen. His kindness was genuine and effortless. He cared deeply about people and gave of himself freely, often putting the needs of others before his own. To know Hezekiah was to know someone who dreamed big. He possessed a creative spirit and an entrepreneurial mind. He was an artist, a musician, a storyteller, and a visionary. He wrote and performed his own music, created art, and imagined worlds full of possibility. He was always learning, always creating, and always looking toward the next adventure. He believed there was more to life than simply existing—he wanted to make an impact, inspire others, and build something meaningful. He was also one of the hardest-working people you could meet. The pain of losing Hezekiah is made even heavier by the recent loss of his beloved father, Johnny. As a family, we are still trying to comprehend how we could lose both of them so close together. The weight of this grief is overwhelming. We mourn not only the loss of the man Hezekiah was, but also the future that lay before him—the dreams he carried, the life he was building, and the countless lives he would have continued to touch. There are milestones that will now be marked by his absence, conversations we wish we could still have, and memories we will hold tightly for the rest of our lives. His laughter, his voice, his creativity, and his love will be profoundly missed every single day. Yet even in our heartbreak, we hold firmly to our faith. We believe that Hezekiah is now in the presence of the Lord and reunited with his father.
