Maureen Vanderhoff

Maureen Ann Vanderhoff, 75, died on June 27, 2024 in Fort Collins, Colorado, after a long battle with the degenerative neurological disease, Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). A Memorial Mass to celebrate Maureen will be held at Saint Agnes Church, Vermillion, South Dakota on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 10:30AM. Maureen was born on July 12, 1948, in Sioux City, Iowa. She was the first of 11 children born to Philip and Margaret (Babe) Manning. Maureen attended Walnut Grove country school in the Garryowen community and Vermillion High School. Following graduation in 1966, she attended Nettleton Business College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and then worked at Raven Industries. In 1968, along with several good friends, she left for Phoenix, Arizona and never looked back. She loved the heat and sunshine and vowed to never live in cold and snowy weather again. Maureen's early working career involved the stock brokerage business, and later she spent several years in the mortgage brokerage business. Maureen married Rick Vanderhoff in 1993, and they resided in Phoenix, Arizona until his death in 2019. She and Rick loved to travel; some of their favorite excursions included Las Vegas, several cruise vacations, and many, many trips to California to visit family and friends. Maureen relocated to Fort Collins, Colorado in 2020, as she needed more assistance with daily living following her PSP diagnosis. She is survived by Rick's 3 children, Kelly (Jim) Knapp, Vicki Vanderhoff, and Van (Suzanne) Vanderhoff as well as 4 grandchildren; Riley Knapp, Layla, Henry, and Georgia Vanderhoff. Maureen is also survived by 10 siblings, Diane (Greg) Schultz, Mary Margaret (Calvin) Strom, Denise (Blake) Munro, Pat (Kathy) Manning, Dan (Anne) Manning, Tom Manning, Brian Manning, Joan (Mike) Emarine, Mark (Carrie) Manning and Tim (Shelly) Manning, as well as several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
