Robert "Bob" John Prickett

Robert “Bob” Prickett, 76 of Fort Collins, CO, retired Albany, GA Police Officer, died Jan. 25, 2023, after a brief illness. Recitation of the Rosary and Memorial Mass will begin at 9:00 AM Tuesday, Jan. 31st at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fort Collins. Interment with full military honors will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2023 at Cheyenne, (Wyoming) National Cemetery. Bob was born December 19, 1946, in Cincinnati (Norwood), Ohio to Melvin and Mary Prickett. He was the middle sibling with two older sisters and two younger sisters. He grew up in Cincinnati and graduated from Norwood High School in 1964. He joined the Air Force where he served honorably for four years as a jet engine mechanic and was discharged as a Sergeant. After the Air Force, he married Darlene on June 22, 1968, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Cincinnati. Together, they have two children, John and Teresa. He joined the Albany Police Department where he worked for 22 years retiring as a Major. During his years on the police force he received a degree in Law Enforcement from Albany Junior College and attended the FBI National Academy in Quantico, VA. After retiring from the Police Department, Bob worked for 12 years with the U. S. Marshall Service as a Court Security Officer. In 2005 they relocated to Dothan, AL where he worked for Habitat for Humanity for 11 years. Like many, he and Darlene retired to Fort Collins in 2016 because their children and grandchildren were here. Never the one to sit around, Bob took a part-time job with St. Joseph Catholic parish. Bob enjoyed building and fixing things, playing Sudoku, doing puzzles and helping others. He is a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by Darlene, his bride of 54 years; son John (and Maci); daughter, Teresa (and Tim) all of Ft. Collins; grandchildren, Kaleigh Hathaway, Ashley Prickett, Mick Ashton, Sarah Prickett, Trent Ashton and Elena Prickett; great-grandson, Xadrien Hathaway; ten nieces and nephews; and his faithful companion, Willow, a Husky Mix. He is preceded in death by all four of his sisters, Rosemary Vogt, Catherine Krois, Shirley Prickett and Claire Daugherty. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation please be made to St. Joseph Parish, specifically to the maintenance fund.
