Archie Lee Brown, 94, died of heart failure and other complications on August 22, 2021, at a Fort Collins hospital. He was born on November 5, 1926, in Rochester, Texas, the son of William and Ethyl (Mooney) Brown. Lee graduated from high school in Alamogordo, New Mexico, Class of 1945, and served in the U. S. Navy during World War II, the Occupation of Japan, and again during the Korean War. Lee married the love of his life, Dorthy Mildred Scott, in 1945, and they settled in Alamogordo where Lee pursued a career in the United States Postal Service, when not interrupted by the U. S. Navy. Promoted to Postal Inspector in 1955, the family moved to Nebraska, residing in North Platte, Lincoln, and Omaha. Lee retired from the Post Office in 1975, eventually winding up in Fort Collins. A Melvin Jones Fellow in his beloved Lions Club, Lee was an active and loyal member, helping with numerous Lions Club projects, and serving in several officer positions. In addition to his parents, Lee was predeceased by his wife, Dorthy (Scott) Brown; three brothers, Odell, Neal, and Bill; and two sisters, Winnie Jolly and Millie Dorame. Surviving are his two sons, Scott Lee Brown and his wife Susann of East Lansing, Michigan; Mark Allen Brown and his wife MaryEllen, of Greeley; and one daughter, Lisa Ellen Bond and her husband Alan, of Pahrump, Nevada; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00am, October 2, 2021 at Christ United Methodist Church (301 E Drake Rd, Fort Collins, CO 80525). In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Lee can be made to Christ United Methodist Church or the Lions Club.
