Carol D. (Tamlin) Heustis
February 28, 1921 - May 5, 2022
Carol D. (Tamlin) Heustis, 101, of LaPorte, Colorado passed away on May 5, 2022. Carol was born February 28, 1921, to George and Mae Tamlin, near Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was the middle child and only girl in her family of five. Carol moved with her family to the LaPorte/Bellevue area when she was 13 years old. She graduated at the age of 17 from Cache La Poudre High School. In 1939, one day after her 18th birthday, she married Fred Heustis and together they had three children: Bill, DeAnne, and Doug. Fred and Carol lived in their house in LaPorte all the days of their 52 years of marriage. Fred passed away in 1991 and Carol continued to live at their home for another 19 years before moving into assisted living. Carol recently celebrated her 101st birthday with her loved ones and close friends in her community. This amazing woman vividly remembered the Great Depression and her dad growing and selling pinto beans to keep the family fed and healthy, the Dust Bowl with the high winds and choking dust that swept the state, the beginning and end of World War II, and now, 75 years later, the Coronavirus Pandemic. When asked about her greatest accomplishments, she would quickly refer to her three children, her grandchildren, and all the little ones that followed. Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Heustis. She is survived by her three children, Bill (Margaret), DeAnne “Dee”, and Doug (Jan); her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and numerous dear friends. Carol always put her family first and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
