Carrie Jo Daly

March 8, 1937 - April 14, 2022

Carrie Jo Sartino Daly, 85, of Fort Collins, passed April 14, 2022. Carrie was born March 8, 1937 in Birmingham, Alabama to parents, Charles and Sarah Sartino. Carrie was the oldest daughter of Sicilian farmers/grocers and tended to the family run grocery store. She cared for her grandmother and her younger siblings until she and a friend left Alabama and drove West to Los Angeles. Carrie met her husband, Kentel Klemesrud Daly at a Los Angeles boarding house where they both resided. Kentel, originally from Osage Iowa, was a classical musician and an accountant. They were married in 1966 and raised two children in South Pasadena until 1977 when they moved to Santa Cruz, California. Shortly after Kentel’s passing in 2011, Carrie relocated to Colorado to be near both of her children, her five grandchildren, and her first great-grandson. Carrie was a wonderful cook, with a love of Southern and Italian cooking and sharing her table with others. She was a strong woman of faith... her prayers were the currency of God’s holy kingdom. Despite the many trials that Carrie endured she always maintained an unwavering awareness that God was and is her provider, protector, and friend. Carrie is survived by her daughter, Robin Martinez (Jose), and son, Peter Daly (Margaret); grandchildren, Rachel Gallegos, Simon Klemesrud-Daly, Andrew Klemesrud-Daly, Maxfield Martinez, and Logan Martinez; great-grandchildren, Xavier Gallegos, and Francisco Martinez; siblings, Peter Sartino, Josephine Gagliano, Rosalie Allison, Mary Ann Baker and Elizabeth Whidden. She was preceded in death by her husband Kentel Klemesrud Daly, brothers Sam Campis and Vincent Sartino, beloved cousin Andra Wiggins and many dear friends. Carrie's Memorial Service will be held in Alabama on Saturday, November 26th. Details forthcoming. Psalm 73:26 My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
