Donald Wayne Orwick
November 23, 2019
Donald Wayne Orwick passed away at home in the peaceful presence of his wife and daughters on November 23rd, 2019, at the age of sixty-six years old. His family knew him as the strong, compassionate head of the household who walked in great faith and lived his life as a Christ-like example. He was the rock of the family and the connecting force who created a legacy of love. Also known as Don and Donnie, those who knew him remember his dress shirts and ties, his funny jokes, his comforting hugs, and his love for eating hearty meals. Don’s discernment and wisdom for people and difficult situations made those he knew feel both safe in his presence and unconditionally accepted. As the head chaplain at the Medical Center of the Rockies for over a decade, he left his mark on this community by selflessly serving the patients, doctors, nurses, and staff. Don genuinely loved his job and was passionate about going to work every day. In the town of Louisville, Kentucky, he was born to the late LeRoy, Sr., and Mildred Orwick. Don was also preceded in death by his sister, Marlene Hechmer (John), and his brother, LeRoy, Jr. (Patricia). Don is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Debbie; his devoted children, Bryony Rowe (Rob), Britony Orwick, Bethony Warner (Kevin), and Brandony Lesser (Brian); and his cherished grandchildren, Bryson Orwick, Avery Rowe, Brooklyn Warner, Deakon Warner, Elyn Lesser, Ireland Warner, Bristol Lesser, Bailey Warner, and Cora Lesser. He was raised with his dear siblings, Darlene “Gitzie” McDonald (Gene “Mac”), Ronnie, Kenny (Susie), and Marty (Sara) Orwick and was a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.
