John Coleman Phillips
March 8, 1954 - October 14, 2017
John Coleman Phillips, aged 63, passed away at home on Oct. 14, 2017. He was born to Alroy Bradbury Phillips (deceased) and Kathleen C. Phillips on March 8, 1954. John graduated from Boulder High School in 1972 and married Jeanette Minor on Dec. 21, 1988. He pursued many careers--welder, roughneck, plumber, and 15 years for the City of Greeley as building inspector. He is survived by his wife Jeanette Phillips of Quarante, France; his mother Kathleen C. Phillips of Boulder, CO; his sister Lynn Reed (Steve) of Louisville, CO; his brother Robert Phillips (Regina Sisco) of Arvada, CO; his sister Mary Hemphill (David N.) of Estes Park, CO; and a niece Rosemary Reed of San Diego, CA. John was known and respected for his love for all living things and his strong sense of decency; doing what should be done because it was right and not to receive credit or praise. He was inventive and creative in many ways and was very talented with mechanical things. He rebuilt and restored a variety of antique motor vehicles and could come up with an “outside-the-box” solution to any challenge. John showed a rare sensitivity in his writing and his photography, and had a subtle and delightful dry sense of humor. All who knew him held him in deep respect and will treasure the time spent with him. If you would like to make a contribution in his memory, he favored the Larimer Humane Society or any animal shelter you know that is in need. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Remember him fondly.
