Louida Anna Golter
August 6, 1922 - December 23, 2016
Louida was born on Aug. 6, 1922 at Wilcox, NE, to Frederick “Fred” and Katherine “Kate” (DeVries) Reiss. She attended St. John’s Lutheran Parochial School and graduated from Wilcox High School in 1940. Following graduation, she attended the Hastings Beauty Academy where she earned her cosmetology license. She owned and operated a salon in Wilcox until her husband returned from WWII. On Sept 15, 1943, she married Lloyd L. Golter in Stuttgart, KS. They lived on a farm at Wilcox until 1958 when they moved to Franklin. In 1960, they moved to Pawnee City where they lived until 1966 when they moved to Elmwood. In 1989, she and her husband moved to Fort Collins where she lived until her death. She was a member of the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church. She loved to garden with a special fondness for flowers. Many nights would find her and Lloyd dancing until his illness and death in 2003. Survivors include her daughters Katherine “Kathy” Johnson and her husband, Wally, of Trophy Club, TX and Linda Martin and her husband, Joe, of Gilbert, AZ; grandchildren C.K. Wolfe and Brad Wolfe, both of Boulder, CO and Carla Falcone and her husband, Todd, of Scottsdale, AZ; great grandchildren Gianni and Joey Falcone; sisters Landis Wiederspan, Lincoln, NE, Belva DeBord and her husband, Ron, Lincoln, NE and Audrey Haas, Kennewick, WA; brother Jim Reiss and his wife, Marsha, Loveland, CO; and sister-in-law Dorothy Harms, South Jordan, UT. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother, Arlynn; brother-in-law’s H. John Wiederspan, Rolland Haas and Harvey Harms. As a young woman, Louida helped care for a boy with cerebral palsy, instilling a special place in her heart for those suffering from the disease so memorials may be sent to United Cerebral Palsy at ucp.org.
