Maxine Mae Peterson

December 8, 1932 - April 20, 2017

Maxine (Hansohn) Peterson, age 84, of Fort Collins, Colorado died Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Golden Peaks Care Center in Fort Collins. Maxine Mae Hansohn was born on December 8, 1932, in Sac City, Iowa, to Wilhelm (“Bill”) and Mabel (Anderson) Hansohn. The family moved to Holstein, Iowa where Maxine attended school and graduated from Holstein High School in 1950. On January 30, 1951, Maxine was united in marriage to W. Eugene (“Pete”) Peterson. Maxine and Pete welcomed two daughters, Kathy (born on Christmas Day 1951) and Lorie (born in April 1953) while living in Holstein. In 1955 they moved to Galva, Iowa and welcomed a son, Lonny in 1958. Together Maxine and Pete operated the TV Center and a Western Auto Hardware store in Galva for a short time. Maxine was a waitress at the Melody Inn in Galva for several years. Maxine and Pete lived in Galva until 1973 when they moved with Lonny to Fort Collins, Colorado. Maxine worked for many years at Tolliver’s Hardware in Fort Collins. She enjoyed spending time with her family and going for drives in her beloved Rocky Mountains. Family was a very important part of Maxine’s life and took a special interest in their lives. She travelled with family to Washington and Oregon, New England, Niagara Falls, Florida, New Jersey and the Jersey shore, Philadelphia and New York City. Those who will cherish Maxine’s memory are her children: Lorie (husband Marcel) Muench of Denville, New Jersey and Lonny (wife Debra) Peterson of Wellington, Colorado; eight grandchildren: Nicole (husband Wayne) Cameron of Hopatcong, New Jersey; Merissa (wife Sandra) Mackin of Budd Lake, New Jersey; Peter (wife Veronica) Munich of Stanhope, New Jersey; Keri (husband Eric) Watson of Canoga Park, California; Sarah Peterson of Canoga Park, California; Jaimie (husband Paul) Boulter of Wellington, Colorado; Hannah (husband Sam) Arietta of Omaha, Nebraska; and Edythe Peterson of Wellington, Colorado: seven great grandchildren: Emma Cameron of Hopatcong, New Jersey; Grace, Gwennevierre and John Munich of Stanhope, New Jersey; Grayson Watson of Canoga Park, California and Nolan and Theo Boulter of Wellington, Colorado: one sister, Mary Ann Hansohn of Woodland, Washington: nieces and nephews and her special friends, Peg Graf and Fred Roberts of Fort Collins, Colorado. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, W. Eugene (“Pete”); son, Alan Eugene and daughter, Kathleen (“Kathy”). A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
