Sharon Kay Vaughn

Sharon Kay (nee Bates) Vaughn, Age 76, of Johnstown, Colorado passed away peacefully on October 3, 2024, after a long struggle with illness. She was born on September 22, 1948, in Medina, Ohio to Virgil Ray Bates and Ruth Eileen Bates (Hinkle).

Growing up, Sharon was an avid reader (particularly mystery novels), enjoyed shopping (especially Amish country), listening to music & collected dolls.

After graduating from Cloverleaf High School in 1966 Sharon spent some time working at Medina Hospital & Westfield Insurance Company. While on a vacation in Denver, Colorado she became acquainted with Emery Dana Vaughn, after which she moved to Colorado. Sharon & Dana were married 7/28/72 and later had a daughter Heather. Prior to her passing, Sharon had been residing with her daughter, her son-in-law Zach Giezen and their 4 children.

Sharon is survived by her mother Eileen (Bates) Hinkle, her sister Virginia Bates, and her daughter Heather Giezen & her family. Family was special to Sharon as was her love of Jesus.

She was preceded in death by her father Virgil Ray Bates, brother Edwin Ray Bates, and Emery Dana Vaughn.

Services will be held at Purpose Church, 9993 County Road 11, Firestone, CO 80504 on November 2, 2024, at 2 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Purpose Church, or to the Breast Cancer Society.
