Theodore Charles Pflum
November 30, 1942 - April 22, 2022
Theodore “Ted” Pflum, age 79, of Timnath, Colorado, passed away at the Medical Center of the Rockies on April 22, 2022. Ted was born in Connersville, Indiana on November 30, 1942, to Edwin and Margaret Pflum. After spending his childhood there on the farm and graduating from Alquina High school, Ted made his way to Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio where he studied to become an x-ray technician. It was there at Good Samaritan that he met his future wife Eileen in the hospital cafeteria. The two were married in 1962 and spent 60 years of marriage together, having their four children Michelle, Laura, Gregory, and Melissa along the way. Ted spent his life in the health care industry, first as an x-ray technician, later working for Eastman Kodak selling x-ray equipment, and starting his own mobile x-ray company, X-Rays on Call. As someone who loved to talk and never met a stranger, Ted was a natural salesman, and had a successful career as one for 26 years. His time working in the industry took him and his family to many places; the list of cities includes Dayton, Ohio; Troy, Ohio; Chicago, Illinois; Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Grand Rapids, Michigan; Pleasant Plain, Ohio;Charleston, South Carolina; and finally landing in Timnath, Colorado in retirement. Ted enjoyed one thing above all else: basketball. Whether it be at the collegiate level or a high school game, Ted loved to watch and participate. He could be found cheering on the sidelines or coaching on the kids’ teams. He also loved his cars and was most proud of the 1957 Thunderbird he restored in his spare time. Ted was known as a helper, always offering a hand to someone in need, whether it be a friend, family member or someone he just met. He took people under his wing and would freely give of himself, from stopping to help someone change a tire to providing long-term help to someone down on their luck. Ted was a kindhearted man; even though his speech was limited in his final years, he always had a warm, “Hey Baby” to say to his friends and caregivers. He also left a legacy of education, which he emphasized and facilitated for each child and grandchild in his family. Ted is survived by his wife Eileen Pflum; his children Shelly Campbell, Lori (Greg) Isaacs, Greg (Marcia) Pflum, and Melissa (Bryan) Voronin; his grandchildren Eileen (Packy) Burke, KC (Bray) Campbell, Miranda (Chris) Desmond, Ellie (Patrick) Murray, Adam Isaacs, Alec Pflum, Hannah Pflum, Carter Pflum, Quinn Voronin, Delaney Voronin, Sullivan Voronin, McKinley Voronin, and Bennett Voronin; and great grandchildren Bryar Campbell, Camp Burke, Fitz Burke, Kallen Campbell, Connor Desmond, and Beau Burke. A Memorial Mass will be held in Indiana at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (www.JDRF.org) in memory of Ted.
