Thomas (Tom) Orin Meyer died on May 26, 2016. He was born on June 29, 1955 in Rapid City, South Dakota, to parents Louis and Elveretta Meyer. Tom grew up in Custer State Park in the Black Hills of South Dakota. He spent many happy hours exploring and enjoying the beauty of those mountains. He worked in various visitor support roles. He particularly enjoyed his high school summer job of taking tourists on jeep rides to see the buffalo herds. He went to the School of Mines and Technology in Rapid City where he earned his degree in electrical engineering. He excelled in math and engineering and worked for 30 years in engineering and management roles at Hewlett-Packard and Intel. After an early retirement, Tom has been employed at Batteries Plus in Fort Collins were he enjoyed helping customers with their gadget problems. Tom married Theresa in 1989. They have enjoyed their many areas of common interests. For many years, they enjoyed sailing vacations in the Caribbean. In recent years they have enjoyed their motorcycles -- especially their trips to the Black Hills during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Tom, together with Theresa, liked taking care of and riding their horses on their ranch northwest of Fort Collins. He enjoyed target shooting as well. He is survived by his wife, Theresa, his brother, Gerry and sister in law, Evonne. He has a nephew, Steven and a niece Kristen. He was preceded in death by his parents and two infant brothers. Everyone who met Tom liked his kindhearted, strong, hardworking and loving nature. He will be missed by many. His memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 3 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 7755 Greenstone Trail, Fort Collins 80525.
