Ada "Tootie" McCloud passed away September 22, 2023, at the age of 81 in Fort Collins, Colorado. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She is preceded in death by her husband Gary McCloud and her son, Chris McCloud. She is survived by her son, Bret McCloud, and wife Tave; daughter, Laurie Arnold and her husband, Rick. She also leaves behind her grandson, Marcus Arnold, wife Lindsay, her granddaughter Megan McLaughlin, husband Ish and two great grandchildren, Caden and Elliette. Finally, Ada leaves behind her beloved brother, Ed Bierbower and his wife Linda of Eldon, Missouri.
Ada was born in Arnold, Nebraska on December 7, 1941, to Ralph and Freda Bierbower. As a young child, Ada, her brother Ed and parents moved to Ft. Morgan, Colorado. While in High School Ada met Gary McCloud and shortly after graduation, the two married and began a life together. After Bret, Laurie and Chris were born, they moved to Gehring Nebraska for a few years but eventually found their way back to Ft. Morgan to be near their families. Several years later, Gary's job took them to Yuma, Colorado. It was there that Ada discovered her talents as a floral designer. She loved working with flowers and designing arrangements. She worked in the floral shops in Yuma and nearby Wray.
Ada enjoyed planning a party and would go to great lengths making every detail exactly right for those coffees and luncheons with friends.
After their kids were grown, she and Gary discovered their love of camping and fishing together. They traveled to the mountains nearly every weekend during the summers. Ada would say those were some of the happiest times they spent together.
Ada was a wonderful grandma and enjoyed spending time with Marcus and Megan, especially when they were small. They shared many adventures together. She once threw a birthday party with all the trimmings for Megan's favorite stuffed animal.
After Gary passed away, Ada moved to Ft. Collins where she worked at King Soopers in the floral department. A few years later she moved to Eldon, Missouri to be near her brother Ed. Ada lived in Eldon for 17 years before returning to Colorado to be close to her kids and grandkids.
Ada was truly one in a million and touched many people during her years on earth. She was kind, caring and thoughtful. Ada will be dearly missed by her family but is finally at peace with Gary and Chris.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Ada's memory to the Larimer County Humane Society.
