Andrew Scott "Andy" Drake, 63, of Loveland, Colorado, passed away on October 29, 2019, at McKee Medical Center following complications from a brief illness.

Andy was born in St. Louis, MO. He is survived by his wife, Jauna Head Drake, of Loveland, his three children and three grandchildren. Son Brian Drake, wife Amy and grandson Gavin of Houston; Son Kyle Drake and wife Elizabeth Ahern, and granddaughters Camille and Lily also of Houston; Daughter Rebecca Drake Dennis and husband Ryan Dennis of Boulder. His brothers, James Drake and wife Marcia of Plaistow, NH, David Drake and wife Tracy of Bloomington, MN, and sister-in-law Jody Drake of Kansas City, MO. Andy and Janet Elliot Carpenter are the parents of Brian, Kyle and Rebecca.

Andy was preceded in death by his parents, Rex and Barbara Drake, and his brother, Jeffery Drake.

Burial will be Friday,November, 8, 3:00 pm, at Roselawn Cemetery, Ft. Collins, CO. Memorial Services will be Saturday, November 9, 11:00 am at Namaqua Unitarian Universalist Church, Loveland, CO. Doors will open at 10:30 for family and friends to greet one another. The Reverend Laurel Liefert will officiate the service. A reception will be held at 1:00pm at the Mariana Butte Restaurant in Loveland. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Goes Funeral Care, Ft. Collins, CO.

Andy grew up in St. Louis, MO, and loved Cardinals' baseball. Andy was active in scouting achieving the rank of Eagle Scout and Order of the Arrow. He remained active as an adult scout leader for many years. He graduated from the University of Missouri at Rolla with a degree in mechanical engineering which started him on a career first in the steel industry and later for many years in the natural gas industry for Centerpoint Energy.

Next to baseball, Andy loved all things aviation, RC planes, flight simulators, drones, airports, air traffic, airplanes, air shows, aviation history, small airport diners, etc. He also loved history, lots of different music, Charlie Brown and Cowboy Poetry.

Andy also loved his three grandchildren, Gavin, Camille and Lily with all his heart and had cultivated cherished relationships with each of them.

At late midlife and in a senior position in his career, Andy was stricken with West Nile Virus which nearly took his life. He fought a long battle of recovery, month after month from learning to sit up, to eat and eventually to walk. For more than four years he worked on his recovery until his untimely death. Andy was an inspiration to his loved ones and friends for the dignity, grit and determination he showed when overcoming hardship after hardship.

Andy was known for his generosity, kindness, intelligence, sense of humor and quick wit. He will be deeply missed by family and friends alike.
