Andy passed away Friday, March 20, 2015 at age 85 after a long and courageous fight against cancer.
He is survived by his wife, Patti Johnson; sons Andy (Debra), John (Kate), and Hugh Wolfe; 11 grand children and numerous great grand children; 2 nephews, and all of their families.
Andy was born in Fort Collins on March 22, 1929 to Pauline K Wolfe and Andrew Wolfe. He graduated from CSU and attended Michigan State University. His service in the US Air Force during the Korean War took him to South Dakota. During his career in the National Park Service he lived and worked for many Parks and Monuments, as well as, Washington DC and San Francisco.
Andy loved camping and hiking with Patti in the National Park areas. Their travels always revolved around being out in nature – watching for wildlife and birds, enjoying the beauty of nature. Their favorite vacations were in Hawaii and Nova Scotia. Andy loved his dog Cole – walking him and just hanging out with him. The times he spent fly fishing with his family were especially meaningful to him. His yard and gardening were a place of relaxation and joy. He could always find another perennial that was needed in the yard! Adventure stories and mysteries were his favorite reads. Spending time at the coffee shop with friends brought him great pleasure and interesting conversation.
Andy was a compassionate, loving and accepting man. He embraced life and encouraged others in their endeavors and challenges.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will take place later.
