Anna Laila Leikvold

Jul 22, 1999 — Jul 9, 2022

Anna Laila Leikvold, 22, of Fort Collins, Colorado, died on July 9, 2022, in a rock climbing accident in her beloved Estes Park.

Anna was born on July 22, 1999, in St. Louis Park, Minnesota to parents Jon Leikvold and Debra Christensen. She graduated from Eastview High School in Apple Valley, MN and then attended St. Olaf College in Northfield, where she studied English Literature, Sociology, and Journalism.

Anna was a woman of passion, with a hunger for a better world. She was an enthusiastic and dedicated environmentalist. Anna was gifted writer, word came easily. She was committed to using her skills, knowledge and intellect to find the way to make the world a better place. She was outspoken on many topics, and would stand, in the face of disapproval, speaking her truth, eloquently and passionately. Anna was adventurous and full of life. She travelled the world, from Ecuador to Costa Rica, South Africa and throughout the US. The outdoors called to Anna; she loved to hike, camp, and rock climb, which made Colorado a perfect home. Anna was employed as a Research Analyst, working with several non-profit organizations in the areas of women's reproductive rights, racial justice and increasing voter access and registration. She was preparing to begin her graduate studies in the fall, focused on sustainability and green farming.

Above all, Anna's life centered around her friends and family. She was a true and loyal friend, goofy, and full of life, happy, loving, in touch with joy. We will always remember her brightness and the fun she brought to every part of our lives.

Anna is survived by her parents, Jon Leikvold and Debra Christensen; sister, Christine (Zach) Maxon; and niece Mila; as well as numerous friends and extended family.
