Anne Tooker Cary went to her heavenly home, surrounded by her family, on April 6, 2021 at age 79.
Anne was born to Lester Garfield Tooker and Mary Lou Lorton Tooker on January 21, 1942 in Denver, Colorado. She graduated from Alamosa High School in 1960 having been chosen to participate in Girls State and inducted into the National Honor Society.
Anne met her husband, Bryan Cary while attending the Beth El School of Nursing in Colorado Springs. They married at the Air Force Academy on June 6, 1963 and have three children, Jennifer, Bonnie and Scott. While in the Air Force, she was a part time nurse and a stay at home mom moving frequently for 21 years. She then became a pastor's wife for 20 years.
As such Anne was not only active in geriatric nursing at the Homelake VA center but also in church activities at St Peter's Lutheran Church of Monte Vista like the altar guild, VBS, LWML , wedding receptions and Sunday School. She worked in various roles at all the many churches she joined throughout her 58 years of married life.
Her love of history and children is what led her to serve as a Docent at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History in Washington, DC. Her unwavering faith in God was no secret to those who knew her well.
Anne is predeceased by her parents, L.G. and Mary Lou, and her brother, Tom. She is survived by her husband, Bryan, her brother, John Tooker, her sister, Debbie Brownell, her children, Jennifer Bodenstein (Alan), Bonnie Freitas (Alex) and Scott Cary (Christy), grandchildren, Sam, Grace, Griffin, Jacob, Mia, Chloe and Carson.
