Arthur passed away of natural causes surrounded by love in his home in June at the age of 67. Arthur started a humble life in Butler, New Jersey in 1954 to Murial and Arthur Baker. He was the middle child with his older sister, Laura and younger brother, Jeff. You could always find him outside, whether it be in the woods, at the lake, or in the backyard. He always had a passion for music and learned how to play the guitar and harmonica. He started a band with his friends and attended many concerts. After finding love and getting married in 1979, Arthur and Maureen toured the USA on their journey to start a new life in Colorado where their honeymoon never ended, and they started a family. With a gentle and adventurous soul, the explorations never ended. For some time, he thoroughly enjoyed volunteering on the Colorado ski patrol. He loved sight seeing and learning new things. Arthur had the patience of a saint. Once there was a fire at the neighbor's house and calm as could be, Art resuscitated their rabbit. He could be found reading any and all materials. With a dry sense of humor, he could bring light to all the hard times. A deep sense of peace was carried with him and shared in content silence. As dependable as could be, Art was at every band concert, Christmas concert, art show, school event, science fair, and was always happy to drive anyone to work, a friend's house, or wherever they needed to go.
Arthur was a very smart man, electronics particularly fascinated him. While he didn't pick up any particular hobbies, he was always tinkering around or fulfilling a "honey-do-list". While he worked at IBM for most of his career, he held many other positions as well. To name a few of his accomplishments, he developed and manufactured a computer system which would activate lights when errors occur in blood analysis machines, and he also built and installed a handicapped computer system for a patient to be able to communicate speech by looking at a computer screen and blinking their eye on the desired letter or word; the patient could then communicate what they wanted to say by presenting words on a computer screen or using a voice synthesizer. Also, Art designed an order process and billing software for a Longmont Truck company.
A very loving father and husband, who happily dedicated his entire life to family. He very much understood the value of time and spent all of it with family. Arthur was surrounded by love and survived by his wife, Maureen Anne; five children: Marissa Jeanne, Katherine Nicole, Jennifer Paige (Derek), Sarah Elizabeth (Erasmo), and Andrew John; nine grandchildren: Annemarie Estelle, Samuel Arthur, Joseph Francis, James Matthias, Encarnacion Ezekiel, Emmanuel Sundin, Robert Charles, Alexander John, and Miles Quinn; and sister, Laura Lynn. Nothing made him more proud than his kids and grandkids. Arthur was preceded in death by his mother, father, and brother.
