Audrey Rae Willging

Audrey Rae Willging peacefully passed away on Monday, June 15, 2015 surrounded by family.

Audrey was born to Edna and Charles Kofmehl in Lead, South Dakota in 1926. Audrey graduated from Lead High School in 1944, where she was involved in many activities including editor of the yearbook, president of the student council, numerous glee clubs, and received the award for Best Character and Personality.

Audrey went on to study accounting at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion where she was an active member of the Alpha Phi Sorority.

Audrey was an accomplished pianist and organist. During her years in Lead, she was called upon to be the accompanist for the high school, the three churches in town, and numerous social events. She continued to play piano for most of her adult life. She was also one of the first tour guides for the Homestake Gold Mine in Lead.

Audrey married her high school sweetheart, Jim Willging in 1947. They were blessed with four children; William, David, Janet and Audrey. Of all Audrey's accomplishments, the one she valued the most was her role of wife, mother, and grandmother.

Audrey was preceded in death by Jim, her loving husband of 64 years, and her grandson Jeffrey James. She is survived by her son Bill and wife Patricia, son David and his wife Janet, daughter Janet and her husband John, daughter Audrey Ketchum and her husband Keith, granddaughters Misha, Cathy, Audrey, and Amanda, and great-grandchildren Payton, Grayson and Audrey.

A Memorial Mass will be held for Audrey at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 19, 2015 at St. Mary Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Fort Collins. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Community Foundation for the Poudre Golden Kiwanis (PGK) Fund.
