Avis E. Fisher

d. Mar 23, 2025

Avis Eileen Fisher age 95 died in Fort Collins, CO after a recent fall. Avis was born in a log cabin in Vermont Township, a Wisconsin Norwegian community. Growing up on a small dairy farm as an only child she was close to her many cousins. With a deep love of family history and extensive research, she authored the Wilkins family genealogical record in two widely distributed publications. As a skilled textile artist she created and sold hundreds of wearable and other fiber art items many of which were award-winning. Everyone loved Avis for her gentle kindness and generosity. Her fondest memory was as a little girl walking to the top of a wooded knoll with her grandfather, talking with him in Norwegian. Avis, the daughter of Arthur & Edna Wilkins, is survived by her sister Anne Warczak (John) of Madison WI, her daughter, Laura Fisher-Bonvallet (Jeffrey) of Green Bay, WI and her son, Richard Fisher (Robbie) of Fort Collins and two grandsons Lt Col Theodore Fisher (Elisha) and William Fisher (Savannah). Preceding her in death were her husband Richard C Fisher and sister, Maret Cheek (William).
