Barbara Jean Gum

Barb Gum was born in Dodge City, Kansas and she grew up in the Kansas towns of Great Bend and Garden City with her beloved her sister Blanche of Kansas. Barb has two sons who live in Fort Collins, Colorado, Brett (49) and Brian (54). The grandchildren she leaves behind are Crystal (24), of Longmont with great granddaughter Maya (7); Benjamin (22), of Fort Collins; Tashawna (20) on the Pearl Harbor base in Oahu, Hawaii; Rochelle (18) of Mesa, Arizona; Mia (6) and Elliana (11) of Fort Collins, Colorado. She enjoyed the company of her kids and grandkids on the daily. Barb also enjoyed phone conversations with her sister, nieces and nephews in Kansas as often as possible.

Barb in her younger years provided security for a church for more than 11 years and was a Licensed Practical Nurse for over 15 years. She also was a den leader and coach for more than 8 years and is very proud that both her sons are Eagle Scouts.

Barb was very interested in the American West and she had a deep interest in Native American history since she had Native American roots on her maternal side. With this love she enjoyed painting scenery portraits of mountains, rivers, waterfalls, and farm areas. Barb also loved animals – wolves, horses, cats and dogs and cared for her beloved cat Casey since she was a kitten. She as well enjoyed watching her seasonal PBR bull riding and never missed a showing. Barb was a real cowgirl at heart!

Barb had a special relationship with her Lord, attending Church and Bible Studies. She taught as a Sunday School teacher and faithfully served as a Deacon for many years. Barb's faith journey started at an early age and she became more spiritual over the years. She has always known that her God was with her, she felt his presence during some of the most challenging times during her life. She followed his lead fighting through cancer, heart attacks and multiple different surgeries throughout her life. She now forever walks the path of life with her Lord and Savior.

Memorial Service
11:00 am, Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Harmony Presbyterian Church, Fort Collins
Service will be followed by a potluck at the church
