Barbara June Penney, 94 of Fort Collins died January 10, 2023 at a local care center.
A nearly native Coloradan, Barb was born March 1, 1928 to Vern and Vera Hays. She and her sister, Bonnie graduated from high school in Meeker, CO. She married Robert "Bob" Penney on Dec. 4, 1965. They met at Englewood City Hall in Colorado and she worked as Secretary and Court Clerk, he was a police officer. After retiring, she and Robert moved to Estes Park, CO where she worked in many satisfying jobs. She loved going to work.
Among Barb's interests, she enjoyed dancing, bowling, socializing and traveling. A naturally social lady, she loved to visit with friends and tourists while enjoying life in Estes Park.
Barbara is survived by her daughters, Kristen (and Andrew) Santillanez and Jennifer Penney (and John) Minnihan; grandchildren, Desariah Barrett (John) and Remington (Jessica) Santillanez, Blair and Brandon Minnihan, Mark McKnight, Jimmy McKnight, Robin Trujillo, Kimberly Allen and Kelli Micek; great-grandchildren, Ivory and Ruger Santillanez, Karston McKnight, Aubrianna and Nathan Allen, James McKnight, Anthony, Michael and Damion Trujillo. Her husband Robert, daughter, Connie and her sister Bonnie, predeceased her.
A Rosary Service and Memorial Mass were held January 12 and 13th at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ft. Collins. Her cremated remains will be laid to rest with Bob at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, CO.
