Barbara Pijoan, 86 a former resident of Corrales, NM, passed away on Saturday, July 26th 2014 after a sudden turn in her health. She was born April 10th, 1928 in New York City. Barbara met her husband, Michel Pijoan, M.D., near Navajo Mountain during the blizzard of 1948 while teaching school for the BIA.
She, Michel and their young son, Oliver, moved to northern New Mexico in 1950, where they lived near Española and where their daughter, Teresa, was born. In New Mexico they have also lived near San Juan Pueblo, Nambé, Santa Fe and Corrales, NM. Her husband, Michel, passed away in Corrales in 1989. Barbara moved to Fort Collins, Colorado in 2011 to be closer to her son and his family.
All her life Barbara dearly loved her horses and all animals which she always made room for. She was a very active member of her community in Corrales, NM where she contributed greatly to The Old Church. She is survived by her son Oliver, his wife Janna; daughter Teresa; five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
