Bernie Mascarenaz(Sr.)

Bernardo "Bernie" Mascarenaz (Sr.), age 79 of Fort Collins, died August 5th in Denver. Visitation will begin at 5:00 pm Wednesday, August 8th at Holy Family Catholic Church with recitation of the rosary at 7:00. Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 am Thursday at Holy Family Church. Interment, with full military honors will be at 2:15 pm Thursday at Fort Logan National Cem., Denver, Staging area C. Bernardo Eloy Mascarenaz was born July 22, 1933 in Trinidad, CO to Marialice Salazar and Luis Mascarenaz. He grew up in Grand Junction and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps in Korea. He participated actively and as past commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 187 and of the American Legion Post #4 and other veteran and Marine Corps organizations. Bernie was also a die hard Broncos and Rockies fan. Bernie is survived by his five children, Sally Samora, Marialice Gutierrez, Alfonso, Bernie and Angelo Mascarenaz; ten grancdhilredn and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Angelica who died in 2005 and his wife, Dolores Lena Pacheco who died earlier this year.
