Beverly Ann Greener

Beverly Greener was born on May 14, 1938 in Chesterton, Indiana, came to Loveland, Colorado, in 1967 and passed away at home in Loveland on November 16, 2019. She was the beloved wife of Richard C. Greener of 819 Ptarmigan Place, Loveland, Colorado.

Beverly's children from her first marriage to Charles W. Near are Scott Near, Bryan Near and the late Chris Near. Her step-children are Sharan (Greener) Dill, Dr. Susan (Greener) Drake and Jim Greener. Beverly loved her 14 grandchildren: Stacia Near, Kathleen (Near) Nichols, Michelle Near, Megan (Near) McFarlin, Cameron Near, Sharyce (Near) Winters, Keaton Near, Khelsie Near and Carson Near; step-grandchildren Tyler Sharp, Ashley Drake, Mary Ann (Drake) Jones, Brielle Greener and Collin Greener.

Beverly's parents were Everette A. Witte and Beatrice G. Witte of Chesterton, Indiana, now deceased. She has a brother, William S. Witte I of North Fort Meyers, Florida.

Beverly attended schools in Chesterton, Indiana, graduating in 1956. During that time, she was involved in the high school newspaper, musicals, sports, Honor Society and an extra-curricular activity as Honored Queen of Job's Daughters (Bethel 80). She felt very lucky to work at Inland Steel Company in Indiana Harbor for two summers to earn money for college. Upon graduation from high school, she was educated at Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois, Michigan State University in Lansing, Michigan, and Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado, in voice, piano and then in business. She worked 14 years for Hewlett-Packard Company in marketing, advertising and trade show departments.

When raising her family, Beverly was very active in forming the Loveland Preschool in 1966 at the First Presbyterian Church in Loveland, Colorado, with friends. She was President of the preschool for several years and out of that hard work with the other mothers came a preschool that is still functioning today. She worked part-time at the church office of the Loveland Presbyterian Church for several years as an assistant to the Secretary and the Pastor.

Beverly loved music and when Loveland teacher/director Roberta Price talked of her interest in making summer musicals possible, she and Roberta and other interested community friends began the Music Guild. The Guild gave college scholarships from the proceeds of the musicals for musicians, actors and performers. Beverly was the first President of the Guild for several years. Many scholarships were granted until the Guild disbanded in the early part of 2008. She produced six musicals and acted in small parts in them. Her sons were often in the musicals acting in roles and helping with the lights and props.

In her retirement years, she and her husband, Richard (Dick), loved to travel all over the country in their motor-home and formed an RV club in 1992. They had many friends who spent fun weekends with them. Beverly and Dick RV'd for the better part of their 37 year marriage. Beverly found a passion for genealogy and the Family Trees which traced her heritage back to the Crusades and to the first families of America. She was a member of The Mayflower Society and the Daughters of the American Revolution and enjoyed trading ancestor information with many contacts all over the country.

Beverly and her husband spent 26 winters at Golden Vista RV Park in Apache Junction, Arizona, where her neighbors were good friends. She enjoyed many of the park's activities and the wonderful weather there. Her Red Hat friends made her life interesting and enjoyable.

A private service will be held at Roselawn Cemetery in Fort Collins, Colorado, in early May 2020. She would like all her friends and family to know how much she loved them and what joy they gave her.
