Blaine Burch Robinson

Oct 31, 1933 — Aug 16, 2015

Blaine Burch Robinson was born in Ogden, Utah on October 31, 1933. He moved frequently in his early childhood years. He finally settled when he was in 7th grade, with his mother and older sister, in Denver, CO where he stayed for many years. Blaine graduated from South Denver High in 1951. He attended Denver University on an athletic scholarship. While there he set several records in Pole Vault. He earned a Bachelors and Masters degree at DU and later on earned a Doctorate degree in Education from the University of South Dakota.

Blaine moved his family to Rapid City in 1967 to pursue a thirty-year long career as a Professor of Philosophy at South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. He served as Chairman of the State Philosophical Association, and for the Campus and Community Philosophical Group. He also served a term as Rapid City Councilman. He published several academic professional articles in Philosophy and, after retirement, a book of philosophical fiction entitled "Here".

Besides his family, Blaine loved old cars, playing the piano, riding his bike, gardening, and reading. In his later years he did some painting. His "space-scapes" and India ink silhouettes received quite favorable responses at several exhibitions.

He is survived by his three children: Monty (Carol), Mike (Wendie), and Monica (Tom), 10 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.

He was pre-deceased by his wife of thirty-one years, Charlene (Charlie), and a granddaughter.
Blaine wishes his kinfolk and friends "good luck, much love, and all the very, very best – for- forever and a day."
