Bud Bass

Nov 1, 1943 — Dec 2, 2022

Bud Bass, 79, of Bellvue, Colorado, passed from this life on Friday, December 2, 2022 at his home.
Bud was born November 1, 1943 to parents Norton and Dorothy Bass in Fort Collins, Colorado and he grew up on a farm in the Waverly area.

In 1964, Bud's parents introduced him to Karla Chase, who was a regular at the lunch counter where his mom worked. The four of them went dancing (Bud was a great dancer), and Bud and Karla's romance began. As happens sometimes, life had other plans for them. Two years later they took different directions. Bud went to work as a wrangler on a cattle ranch in North Dakota and Karla went to work for Trans World Airlines. They reconnected in 1986 after 20 years, and on October 11, 1987 they married. They shared a loving home together in Bellvue until the time of his passing.

Bud earned a living as a truck driver, working for Sterling, Western Mobil, and LaFarge to name a few. In 1994 he became owner/operator of AB Trucking. At heart he was a cowboy, the last of a dying breed. He loved the rodeo and competed in team roping as a heeler. He had a special way with horses and cows and even spent time in the cavalry in North Dakota.

A native Coloradoan (yet another rarity), Bud enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, 4-wheeling, being with his family, and being on his John Deere tractor. He loved two Johns, John Deere and John Wayne.
Bud's absence will be felt at home and in his community. He truly epitomized the spirit of a cowboy, soft spoken, trustworthy, and fiercely loyal.

Bud is survived by his wife, Karla Bass; sons, Clint (Misty) Bass, Scott (Kimberlee) Bass, and Cody Bass; grandchildren, Kendall, Garrett, Rebecca, Clint Jr, and Michael; and siblings, Kathy, Jim, and Carolyn. He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Ed and Shirley.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, December 27 at Revive Church, 4608 Rist Canyon Rd, Laporte, followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Bud to the Lymphoma Research Foundation: lymphoma.org/donate.

So do not fear, for I am with you;
Do not be dismayed for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
