Tommy Tomlinson, 88, of Fort Collins received his eternal reward on February 6th resting peacefully at his home surrounded by family. Tommy was born November 23, 1921 in St. Joseph, MO. He served in the US Navy and was honorably discharged in 1945. Tommy attended Oklahoma State University on a baseball scholarship as a pitcher where his strike out record still stands. While at OSU, he met Inez, the love of his life and wife of 63 years. They were married in Olathe, KS on September 3, 1946. Tommy was greatly respected and beloved as Director of Food Services at Colorado State University from 1957 to 1980 where he earned numerous awards including the prestigious Ivy award for his outstanding leadership which was presented by Henry Kissinger then Secretary of State. Tommy Tomlinson is survived by his loving wife Inez; son Jeff (Julie Rhoades); daughters Jill (Merlin Prater), Jacalyn, Jeri (Greg Mauro); 17 grand children, and life long friend Jack Nielsen. Tommy was preceded in death by his mother Betty, son Jock, and grand daughter Lolita. Honoring Tommy's request, the family is having a private service at Timberline Church on February 14th. Contributions may be made to Pathways Hospice or the Salvation Army. Tommy will be remembered for his strength of character, humility, Christian values and always having time to give a word of encouragement to all he knew.
