Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Carolyn Elizabeth Dahl died peacefully on November 6, 2023 at age 88 in Loveland Colorado with loved ones in attendance.
Carolyn was born on 9.20.1935 in Brooklyn, New York to John Forrest Cox and Irene Gertrude Cox. She was the fourth of six children.
She attended high school through age 15 when she began working as an office clerk in Manhattan, NY to support herself. She met her future sister-in-law at St. Regis Paper Company in the early 1950's who introduced her to John Stanley Ornowski. She and John married in 1954 and became the proud parents of 3 daughters and one son. She later received her GED and completed various college courses.
She was a "jack of all trades" and worked throughout adulthood at a variety of jobs including file clerk, receptionist, data entry, cosmetology, antique restoration, taxi driver, and (most importantly) loving mother.
She was predeceased by brothers Jack Cox, Larry Cox, sister Margie Puig, husband John Ornowski, and grandson Justin DeFabio.
She is survived by her daughters, son, and their spouses (Suzanne and Robert Weast, Patricia DeFabio Smith and Jason Smith, David and Patricia Ornowski, and Laura and Bryan Hildebrand); grandchildren (Daniel DeFabio, Brandon Weast, Cory Weast and wife Carter Weast, and Amaya Ornowski), sisters and spouses Mary and Gordon DeGeorge and Linda and Steve Harrison.
Private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations to CASA-GAL (Court Appointed Special Advocates Guardians ad Litem)- nationalcasagal.org.
