Carolyn Jean Stoldt was born July 30, 1922 in Orland, Indiana to Harry and Ellen Stoldt. She moved to Jackson, Michigan where she began nursing training at Foote Hospital graduating in 1944. On September 17, 1955, Carolyn married Joseph "Dick" Mallette in Jackson and together they had four children. They moved to Arizona soon after they were married and also lived formerly in Washington and California before settling in Colorado. She retired from active nursing in 1990 while working at Lutheran Medical Center in Wheat Ridge CO, but always remained a nurse at heart and in her actions. From the time she was 10 years old, Carolyn wanted to be a nurse because she wanted to help make and keep people well. Carolyn was a longtime member/participant in the Catholic Church, but was only recently confirmed in the faith, an accomplishment she had always prayed for. In addition to her faith and her nursing, Carolyn's hobby was caring for and spending time with her family. Close behind her family was her love of sports, especially Bronco's football and Rockie's baseball. Carolyn, who also goes by "Pete" to many of her family, is survived by her children, Nanette (and Ron) Scott of Apache Junction, AZ, Suzette Mallette, Rick and Tim Mallette all of Ft. Collins. She was preceded in death by her husband Dick who died in November of 2006 and her three sisters, Willadean Asher, Lillian Wilkening and Beverly Shaffer. She is also survived by a brother-in-law, Alvin Shaffer of Orland, Indiana and one grand-son, Richard Scott.
