Carolyn Peschka Nagle

d. Mar 10, 2025

Carolyn Peschka Nagle passed away peacefully on March 10, 2025. She was born on May 20, 1930, in Hoisington, Kansas into two loving and large clans, the Peschka and Dowse families. She claimed to be related in some way to the majority of Barton County.

Her ties to Hoisington expanded even more when she married the love of her life, Bill Nagle, who was also well endowed with family. If, as is said, marrying means marrying not just a spouse, but a whole family, she won the lottery.

The happy couple tied the knot on April 30, 1953, starting their 68 year adventure together. Bill's work required quite a few relocations and Carolyn proved to be superbly adaptable, creating a happy home and making new friends wherever they landed.

The nucleus of all these venues was always their new church where she would join the choir, find new bridge partners, and shepherd her three kids through school. Fortunately, a dog was always acquired somehow, and it fell to her to train and name him (always a boy).

After years of job-related moves, she finally got the chance to choose where they would retire and, after scouring the state of Colorado, they settled in Fort Collins where her uncle Bill and their niece Pat were living. For all reasons, this proved to be the perfect home for them.

Carolyn was good at everything she put her hand to – playing the piano, needlework, feeding and caring for her family, NYT Sunday crossword puzzles (in ink), accounting and tax prep (for years volunteering through VITA to help others with theirs). Two of her superpowers were remembering everyone's birthdays and her amazing sense of direction. She was never lost.

She leaves behind her three kids Liz, Mark, and Barb, son-in-law Kevin, and grandson, Gabe, as well as many nieces, nephews, and their families whose birthdays and whereabouts she remembered when much else was forgotten. Her last few years in the absence of Bill, she lived out surrounded by hordes of angels at Centre Ave Health & Rehab and Pathways Hospice. Her family wishes to express our gratitude and love for these dedicated caregivers.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to Pathways Hospice in her name.
