Carrie Bell Chalker, a resident of Fort Collins, Colorado, died Sunday afternoon, May 3, 2020 after an extended illness in a Fort Collins hospital with her family at her side. She was 70.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Carrie was a 1968 graduate of Carroll High School, attended Enterprise State Community College and the University of West Florida. She held two Masters Degrees from Tulane University School of Social Work, and School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. Before retiring and moving to Colorado Carrie worked as Dir. of Social Work at Charter Woods Hospital; Social Worker at Baptist Hospital; Family Therapist at Wiregrass Mental Health; Dir. of Social Services at West Florida Hospital; Patient Care Coord. at Columbus Hospice.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William C. and Louise Averett Chalker, two sisters, Dorothy M. Glover and Mary Ruth Brunson.
Survivors include her daughter, Kimberly Williams Payton, Loveland, CO; one sister, Willie Chalker Jordan (Jody) Houston, TX; three brothers, C. David Chalker (Patsy) Enterprise, AL; Ralph Averett Chalker (Liz) Dothan, AL; William Coley (Bill) Chalker, Jr. (Liz) Orlando, FL; one brother-in-law, Ted Brunson, Clayhatchee, AL; two granddaughters, Rhetta Grey Masci, and Arianna Payton, and two step-grandsons, Dakota Payton, and Marc Payton, all of Ft. Collins.
