A service celebrating the life of Charles R. Clarke will be held on Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at Timberline Church in Ft. Collins. Charles Richard Clarke, lovingly called Chuck, 68, of Ft. Collins, Colorado, went on to heaven, Sunday, May 9, 2010. Chuck, an avid Nebraska Cornhusker fan, was born in Custer County, Nebraska, October 31, 1941, to Edward and Ruth (Brown) Clarke. He was the youngest of three children. Chuck graduated from Aurora High School, Aurora, Nebraska, in 1960. He soon found the love of his life, Lois M. Wenzel and was married on March 9, 1966. After high school he worked in the construction industry and helped in the construction of Aurora Jr. High School. Chuck then joined the U.S. Army in 1962. He served a tour of duty in S. Korea from July 1962 to July 1963. He separated from the Army in 1965 as an honorably discharged Veteran. He was then employed by Burlington Northern Railroad until 1969. He and his family then moved to Eaton, Colorado and worked on a diary farm until 1980. He then began a successful career as a drywall finisher. He retired in 2007. Chuck had a heart for mentoring young boys and began ministering to them through the Royal Ranger program, sponsored by the Assemblies of God. He remained involved in this program for over 32 years, which included the Frontier Camping Fraternity program. He also served as a lead foreman on several foreign construction mission trips, which included Haiti, Fiji, China, Ireland, Belgium (twice) and Malawi, Africa also including numerous church construction projects in the United States. He is survived by his wife, Lois, and their four daughters. Anita, of Fredrick, MD; Cindy, of Bowie, TX and her husband Randy; Christy, of Littleton, CO and her husband Marcus; and Kim, of Windsor, CO and her husband Robert. Eleven grandchildren: Jonathan, Michael, Lisa, Titus, Troy, Danielle, Amy, Chandler, Kaylee, Tanner and Moriah and five great-grandchildren, Jayden, Marissa, Summer, Eli and Hadley. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Timberline Church missions fund to be used toward mission construction projects. Chuck is dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
