Charles Edward "Chuck" Draves, 73, of Fort Collins, Colorado, passed away at 7:00pm, Friday, September 17, 2010, at home surrounded by his loving family. Chuck was born on January 15, 1937 in Gary, Indiana, to Kenneth and Constance Draves. He spent most of his youth in Rensselaer, IN with Waldo and Elise Garrigues, and graduated from high school there in 1955. Chuck served in the United States Navy before earning a BA in Creative Writing from Purdue University. While there he also captured the heart of Rebecca "Becky" Timmons Draves, whom he married in June of 1963. Chuck continued his studies at Duke University, spent his career as a Marketing Management Consultant, moved to West Lafayette, IN in 1976, where he and his wife raised a family until relocating to Colorado in 2006. Chuck was an avid photographer, poet, and writer; often writing as a guest columnist for The Journal and Courier. He was passionate about politics, studied history, enjoyed travel, and loved being with his wife and family. Other than his wife of 47 years, Chuck is survived by his sister, Beverly Hoskins of Lake Station, IN; four children: Ken Draves (Susan Shriner) of Fort Collins, CO; John Draves & Carter Draves of Loveland, CO; and Elizabeth Draves Segrist (Kurt Segrist) of Bend, OR. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Elizabeth, Ian, Erin, and Caitlin. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or Melanoma Research Foundation.
