Charles "Chuck" Gustafson went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 3, 2022 at the age of 82. He was lovingly cared for during his final days by the care team at Mas Alla Homes in Loveland, Colorado.
Chuck was born to Adolph and Florence Gustafson. He grew up in Wheatridge, Colorado, with his older brother Dave and younger brother John. He played saxophone in many musical events including the Dwight D. Eisenhower Presidential Inauguration Parade in 1953 with the Denver Junior Police Band.
Chuck graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He went on to earn his Electrical Engineering Masters Degree at MIT in Boston, Massachusetts. While at MIT he began working at Bell Labs.
Chuck wed Jacqueline (Jacque) Fischer in Lakewood, Colorado. Together, they moved from Boulder, Colorado to Massachusetts for him to attend school and then to New Jersey for his work.
In 1965, Chuck and Jacque returned to their home state of Colorado, settling in Manitou Springs when he began working for Hewlett Packard. In 1983, Chuck and Jacque moved to a unique solar home they designed with overwhelming views of Colorado Springs. In 1988, they moved to California where he was head of research and development for Hewlett Packard. Returning to their beloved Colorado in 1995, Chuck and Jacque settled in Fort Collins while Chuck worked at the Hewlett Packard facility in Loveland until retiring in 2000.
Chuck was an avid outdoor enthusiast that loved camping, backpacking, hiking, biking and skiing. He passed this love of being outdoors on to his kids and grandkids. Many ski trips beginning in the early 1970's, traveling to Mexico and Hawaii on vacations, week long backpacking trips in the Colorado mountains, rafting down the Green River in northwest Colorado and taking the entire family on an Alaskan cruise, Chuck enjoyed time with his family and friends. After retiring from HP Chuck and Jacque purchased a second home in Frisco, Colorado, to continue their joy of experiencing the outdoors with their kids and grandkids.
Chuck is survived by his wife Jacque of Fort Collins, son Charles (Jane), daughter Debra (John), son Robert (Tamara), and brother John (Naomi). He was blessed with six grandchildren and three great grandchildren plus one on the way.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents and older brother Dave.
