A gathering in celebration of her life will be held from 5-7 PM Friday, May 9th, 2008 at the Ft. Collins Senior Center. Charlott Havemann was born November 13, 1932 in Hamburg, Germany to Carl and Erna Havemann. When she was 18, she left for the United States and settled in New York. She proudly obtained her citizenship in this country. She lived in San Francisco where she met her husband, Dr. Gordon Myers. She assisted him in doing research work among the coastal Indians of British Columbia and they lived for a time in Vancouver, BC. The couple moved to Story, Wyoming, which is near Sheridan where her husband was a professor at Sheridan College. While in Story, Charlott developed an interest in the Basque culture and the many people of Basque heritage living in Wyoming and she wrote a great deal about these fine people. After her husband's death and in his honor she set up a scholarship fund at the University of Wyoming to assist Wyoming students wishing to study medicine. She loved art as well as classical music and her life was spent in search of knowledge that included receiving a degree from Sheridan College. She worked assisting her husband for many years as a Medical Technician. She will always be remembered by her many friends for her courage, and her ability to give other people a lift in their lives. Upon retirement, she took up quilting and writing and volunteering (hundred's of hours) for Poudre Valley Hospital and the Fort Collins Public Library. She spent much of her time with her writers group through the Ft. Collins Senior Center and also enjoyed regular aerobic exercise and socializing with the ladies there. She is survived by her brother, Dietrich Havemann in Germany and numerous friends throughout the world.
