Charlotte Shannon

d. Jul 4, 2021

Charlotte Watson Shannon, formerly of Oklahoma City, was 102 when she went home to be with her Lord on July 4, 2021. Charlotte was born on July 2, 1919, in Bancroft, Idaho to Charles and Alline Watson. Her grandparents, James and Idelia Watson raised her. Charlotte married Ralph Shannon, Jan. 1, 1939 in Sayre, OK. They were married 70 years when Ralph passed away in 2008.

They lived in Amarillo, Texas where they were faithful members of Amarillo Bible Church. They raised two children, Paddy (Patricia) and Jeff Shannon in Amarillo, TX, and Oklahoma City, OK. Charlotte worked as a fundraiser for non-profit groups in Texas. In 1965 Charlotte, Ralph and 10 other couples raised funds to purchase land south of Amarillo and form a Christian youth camp, Hidden Falls Ranch. The Ranch just finished their 56th year serving the youth of TX and OK. Charlotte volunteered as head camp cook the first 7 years.

Charlotte and Ralph moved to Fort Collins, CO. in 2002 to be closer to their daughter Paddy. They were members of the 1st Presbyterian Church. They loved to travel with favorite trips being to the Holy Land and to Europe with the Larimer Chorale Chamber Chorus of Ft. Collins.

Charlotte was the happiest when she was able to spend time with family and she reached out far to find them. Family and friends were extremely important to her, and she was very proud of her Cherokee heritage.

Charlotte loved to sing and was a charter member of the Silvertones Senior Choir in Ft. Collins. Charlotte enjoyed playing cards with friends, was always a lady but a fierce competitor. She decorated her home with beauty and had a fine eye for color and arrangement.

She is survived by two children, Paddy Shannon of Fort Collins, Jeff (BJ) Shannon and great granddaughter Jamie Schmidt of Blanchard, OK. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
