Cheryl Ann Brown

d. Sep 19, 2018

Cheryl Ann Brown, 61, of Fort Collins, died September 19, 2018 in Jackson, Wyoming.

Born in Denver in 1957, Cheryl's family moved to Fort Collins when she was a baby. She graduated from Fort Collins High School and went on to Fort Lewis College in Durango. Except for those few years in Durango and another few spent in California, Cheryl stayed in the Fort Collins area.

Cheryl was married to Karl Kovacich for two years, during which they had two sons. She was later married to Thomas Brown and the two spent 26 beautiful years together.

Cheryl was a personal banker at Guaranty Bank in Loveland. She was in banking for a total of 36 years and for the most part she enjoyed her job. As her title said, she would be personal or be a friend to her customers, to the point of helping them celebrate life with lunch, going the extra mile, or going to a funeral for them.

She was a social person who enjoyed people and believed the best in everyone, whether family, friends, or people she met. However, she was very discerning and knew if they were a "safe person" or not.

Her grandkids were always thrilled to go to Grandme's house. They could have macaroni & cheese, pick tomatoes or strawberries, go to the Dollar Store and pick out an item, or paint their nails. They always looked forward to her giving them a bath. Of course, it wasn't just them taking a bath – the tub was filled with toys and plastic buckets and Grandme!

Cheryl was a devoted Christian. Her marriage was based on the Lord first, her husband second, and her next. If she saw or discerned a need, she would intercede for it. Often, while driving to or from work, she would simply pray. She believed that was a gift the Lord had given her. She cared for people and what they were going through. She helped people by leading Divorce Care, Homes of Honor, giving food or money to people, and always being ready to listen, talk and pray. She loved people!

She enjoyed trying new things, often a new food that she had never tasted, or a new adventure like a cruise (if she did not get motion sickness), or a helicopter ride to a glacier. She loved going places she hadn't been before, doing things she had never done. With that said, she enjoyed home; it was a safe and comforting place for her. She enjoyed being hugged when she came home or left; she enjoyed the good night hug in bed; and she enjoyed the hug "just because." She enjoyed flowers "just because." She enjoyed coming home Friday evening and watching a movie with her eyes closed. She enjoyed family celebrating birthdays, holidays, or just being together. She enjoyed a church service where the Spirit of God was moving hearts. She enjoyed seeing family and friends "getting ahead in life." She enjoyed being with her husband. She enjoyed even small things in life. Now, even though we miss her, she is enjoying her life with Jesus. Now she is enjoying the Greatest Adventure of her life.

Cheryl is survived by her husband, Thomas Brown; sons Jayson Brown, of Casper, WY, and Jarid Brown, of Loveland; stepdaughter, Denise Brown, of Rigby, ID; stepsons, Matthew Brown, of Loveland and Gabriel Brown, of Caribou, ME; grandchildren, Avery and Ellie; and step-grandchildren, Lauren, Mycah, Michael, Tristan, Natalie, and Kaia; brother, Scott Comstock, and sister Kathryn Darling.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:30 pm, Sunday, October 7th at Vintage City Church in Fort Collins.
