Cheryl L. King

d. Sep 22, 2024

Cheryl Lee King was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on October 5, 1953, to Clarence and Mary Zike. She passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at 70 years of age. She is survived by her 3 children: daughter Shalla (Jared) Bowman, and her sons Bryan (Marie) King, and Trenton (Christy) King. She is also survived by her 4 grandchildren: Olivia Bowman, Dylan King, Karter King, Hadley King, and her siblings David (Mayra) Zike, Susan (J.R.) McLaughlin and Laura (Michael) Cooper. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard E. King and both of her parents.

Clarence and Mary dedicated their lives as Jehovah's Witnesses in 1961 and Cheryl grew up learning to love the truths from God's Word that she was taught. She dedicated her life to Jehovah and was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on March 23,1968. From an early age she learned American Sign Language and to play the violin. She used these learned skills in her worship as one of Jehovah's Witnesses, interpreting for the hearing impaired and playing the violin in the orchestra at assemblies and conventions. Throughout her life, many years were spent serving as a full-time preacher and teacher of God's Word, much of the time alongside her husband.

Cheryl met her future husband, Richard King in the summer of 1973 on a trip to Colorado. They fell in love very quickly and he became the love of her life, marrying on December 9, 1973. They built their life together, raising their 3 children to also love Jehovah. Cheryl and Richard loved Colorado and resided there the rest of their lives. As Jehovah's Witnesses, Richard and Cheryl spent much of their time volunteering to teach others about the Bible. Their love for the Bible and for God moved them to assist with establishing a Fort Collins Congregation in American Sign Language (ASL) on February 1, 2009. Together they volunteered and assisted with building the Aurora Assembly Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses from 2011-2012.

Cheryl held dearly the Bible's promise at John 5:28,29. There it assures us that "All those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life." We long for the day, very soon, when this promise will come true, and we can see Cheryl (Nana) once again.
