Cindy Sue Abbey

Cindy Sue Abbey, 68, of Fort Collins, CO, passed away peacefully at home on February 17th, 2025 with her beloved family by her side.

Cindy was born June 4th, 1956 in Hawarden, Iowa to Orland and Darlene Abbey. After attending West Sioux High School, she moved to Colorado in 1978 and raised her two daughters there. She worked at Hewlett Packard, Pella Windows, and UCHealth. After working hard for many years, she began her well-deserved retirement in 2021.

She was known for being a loving mother, grammy, sister, and friend. Some of her greatest joys in life were spending time with her grandkids, babysitting her grandpets, going on spontaneous road trips, and seeking out places to get ice cream.

Survivors include daughters Beth (Seth) Pickett of Fort Collins, CO, Danyel (Jason) Rigdon of Freeburg, IL; grandchildren Hannah, Taylor, Allyssa, Trent, Sloan, and Mavis; great-grandchildren Jaxon and Lillian; brother Larry (Cammy) Abbey of Commerce City, CO; sister Orlene (Allen) Van Noort of Hawarden, IA; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by parents Orland and Darlene Abbey; infant brother Jon Abbey; and great-grandson John Luna.

Visitation will be held at Centerpoint Church in Hawarden, IA from 9:30-10:30 AM on Friday, March 7th, 2025 followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at Grace Hill Cemetery, Hawarden, IA. A local celebration of life will be held in Fort Collins, CO at a date and time to be determined.
