Clara Lou Kahler

Feb 2, 1928 — Jun 17, 2015

Clara Lou Kahler (Moss) passed away June 17, 2015 at Lighthouse Eldercare Assisted Living Facility in Fort Collins, CO, with her daughters by her side. She had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease 5 years ago, and knew her immediate family until the end.

Clara met Harry Jean Kahler on a blind date and they were married on August 1, 1947 in Denver, CO. They were very blessed to celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary together. Harry predeceased her, along with her parents, Homer and Clara Moss. Clara is survived by her 3 daughters: Beverley Chavez in Lafayette, CO, Marilyn Gross (and her husband Chuck), Wendie Robinson (and her husband Mike) in Fort Collins, and 7 grandchildren: Matt, Jenna, Sadie, Jake, Taylor, Lauren, Blake, and 4 great- grandsons: Levi, Joshua, Michael and Samuel. Other survivors include her sister Irm Watson in Wheatridge and her brother Irv Moss in Denver.

Clara was born February 2, 1928 in Denver, graduated from West High School in 1945, and attended Colorado Women's College. She worked for Mountain Bell Telephone Co. and later on, for CSU in the Morgan Library. She and Harry moved from Denver to Fort Collins in 1967. They were active members of the First United Methodist Church in Fort Collins for 42 years, and Clara was an active member of the Vashti Circle at the church. Clara was a devoted member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and participated in many activities to help others. Her hobbies and interests included photography, bridge, travel, collecting elephants, family reunions and she loved doing special activities with her daughters and her grandchildren. Above all, Clara was an avid sports fan of the Rockies and the Broncos. Her great passion was to be at Opening Day of the Rockies season every year since they started in 1993. She exuded a special kindness and spirit for all humanity, and the well being of others, and had a wonderful zest for life. Clara was loved and will be missed by all those who knew her.

Memorial contributions in Clara's memory can be made to Pathways Hospice or the Alzheimer's Association in care of Goes Funeral Care, 3665 Canal Drive, Suite E, Fort Collins, CO 80524.
