Claud Martin

Claud L. Martin of Fort Collins, Colorado died July 4, 2010. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date in Fort Sumner, New Mexico. Claud was born June 11, 1919 at Northfield, Texas to Claud and Mary Evelyn Martin. He graduated from House, New Mexico High School in 1938 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy the same year. He served from 1938 – 1945. He married Katharine (Kay) Peterson January 28, 1942, in Norfolk, Virginia. Two children were born to this union, Roy Paul Martin and Claudia LoRee Martin. Claud worked for the Atomic Energy Commission in Los Alamos, New Mexico for twenty five years then retired to Fort Sumner, New Mexico to farm. In 1998, Claud and Kay moved to Fort Collins to be near their daughter, Claudia. Claud was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. He is survived by his son, Roy Martin of Athens, Georgia; his daughter, Claudia Martin of Fort Collins, Colorado; two grandsons, Gregory and David Martin; two granddaughters Shawna Marcontell and Yvonne Draper; one great-granddaughter Zoe Draper; and two sisters Nora Murphy and Dale Lobley.
