Cody Thomas Dinkel

There are few people that have the ability to be the type of impactful that is life-altering. Even fewer have that effect on people they have never even met. That was Cody Dinkel.

Born on July 14, 1993 to Tim and Susan Dinkel, Cody Thomas Dinkel was affable and easy-going from the start. He was quick to make lifelong friends through the sports he loved, particularly softball and wrestling. To his brother, Cody sometimes took on the role of annoying little brother but most often, Timmie and Cody would spend hours together playing street hockey and working on cars. His biggest role model and mentor in life was his grandfather, DP Devlin. Cody spent time tending to his grandfather's rose garden, learning how to play cards, treating people right, and how to be a man. It was DP who engendered Cody's love for fixing things that eventually developed into a career as a union plumber.

A Fort Collins native, it was rare for Cody to go anywhere without needing to stop and talk to someone he knew. He had made plans to go to Arizona State University to play football when he received a life-threatening diagnosis of brain cancer. When Cody was given a 50% chance of surviving five years, he made the decision to double down on living. He began a career in bodybuilding, which is how he met his wife, Morgan. Cody loved traveling with his family and took many trips across the country. Once his niece, Rosalie, and nephew Carson, were born, Cody made it a point to spend time with them every day. He took full advantage of every day and chose to not carry regrets with him.

Cody engaged in a daily battle with cancer for 11 years. He never complained despite the physical toll that the disease ended up taking on his body. Cody inspired countless people by how he conducted himself. He epitomized strength and courage to all who met him.

He is survived by his wife, Morgan Dinkel; his parents, Tim and Susan Dinkel; his brother and sister-in-law, Timmie and Samantha Dinkel; his niece and nephew, Rosalie and Carson Dinkel; grandmother, Margaret Devlin; Brenda Devlin; Tom and Karen Dinkel; Kat and Bob Daniels; Jessica Pinger and family; Kelli Dinkel and family; Tommie Dinkel and family; Tony Daniels and family, and Tyler Daniels and family. He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Donald Paul Devlin; his cousin, Savannah Daniels; and grandparents, Tom and Carol Dinkel.

A celebration of life is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 23rd at Timberline Church. Pastor Brent Cunningham will officiate. Cody requested that attendees wear bright colors to his service.
