Connie Jean Kamerzell

d. Jun 28, 2021

Connie Jean Kamerzell, 70, of Fort Collins, passed away peacefully at home on June 28, 2021.

Connie was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa in 1951 to parents, Louise and Everett Stephens. She grew up in Iowa and graduated from high school in Des Moines. She enjoyed all that the 60's culture had to offer, as well as attending college for computer science and starting a family. Her first daughter was born in Iowa before the family relocated to Colorado in the late 70's, when her second daughter was born.

Family came first for Connie and she worked hard to care for them. She worked at Hawk in Loveland, at the USDA, Leidos, and at the American Legion. Throughout her life, Connie's strength carried her through. She loved and cared for her daughters, taking them camping, supporting them in 4-H and Campfire Girls, and making sure that they and her grandkids enjoyed family vacations and family gatherings.

Connie enjoyed raising animals on her property such as horses, cows, pigs, dogs and cats.

Connie was a member of the American Legion for many years and enjoyed volunteering and participating in the many patriotic activities; she began the group called "American Legion Riders", she volunteered for Bingo and all holiday events.

Connie was very loving and would do almost anything to help almost anyone. She was an amazing mother, sister, and lived up to the name "GRAND MOTHER"
Connie is survived by her daughters, Cherie Strauser and Jody Trujillo; grandchildren, Austin Strauser, Andrew Nichelson, Jessie Lucero, Darian Lucero, and Tyler Trujillo; brother Steve Stephens; partner, Dennis Smilie; as well as 5 great-grandchildren. She is joined in death by her parents.

A visitation and viewing will take place from 4:00-6:00 pm, Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at the American Legion Hall.
