Corinne "Corky" Grim, age 68 of Ft. Collins, died April 29, 2012 at Poudre Valley Hospital after losing a five year battle with cancer. Corinne Vivian Grim was born August 7, 1943 in Bellingham, WA, to Paul and Vivian Grim. She grew up in Minneapolis, MN; participated in Girl Scouting in her youth; attended University of Colorado in Boulder; and graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Social Science. After college she moved back to Colorado began working with the Girl Scouts. She became camp director and administrator at Camp Lazy Acres in Rye, CO and later directed camp Tomahawk and Flying G Ranch near Bailey. The Girl Scouts of America sent her to Japan and Korea to serve children of U. S. Military personnel. After three years overseas, Corky returned to Colorado and began working as a social worker for both Larimer and Weld Counties. On March 29, 1980, Corinne married Bob Dearing in Fort Collins. She retired in 1999 and, while working some part-time jobs, was able to spend her time with her husband, friends and her hobbies. She enjoyed raising and showing Golden Retrievers, her favorite, and most awarded, dog was "Teka". She also enjoyed bird watching, traveling, being outdoors, watching various sporting events and eating chocolate. She had a joyful outlook and a childlike love of life. Corky had lots of close friends, each with their own special meaning. She had as varied a group of friends as she did interests. She is survived by her husband, Bob Dearing; a brother, Douglas P. Grim of Los Angeles; a nephew, Devin P. Grim of Los Angeles; a niece, Caryn (Grim) Fiedler of Portland, OR; several cousins; and her Golden Retrievers, Honey and Cody. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, May 3rd at Grandview Cemetery in Fort Collins.
