Cynthia Ann Davis Rice was born on March 5, 1943 to Edward and Grace Rice in Los Angeles, California. During her lifetime, she also lived in Washington state, Oregon, Colorado and Germany.
Cindy came to Fort Collins in 1988. She eventually became a nail technician and owned a salon in town for awhile. Her greatest joys in life were her family, friends and volunteering at St. Joseph Catholic Church, her church home, for many years. Cindy was awarded the Spirit 2015 award from St. Joseph Catholic School. She also had a passion and dedication for serving the homeless. Her love of animals, especially dogs, was known by all! Outspoken, strong-willed, quick-witted, and so much more, Cindy was fun to be around. She loved reading (especially James Patterson), reality TV shows, and thrift store shopping. Most of all, she cherished and enjoyed spending time with her close friends. Her generosity and concern for others was foremost. She was a loving mom, caring aunt, and devoted friend, who was adored by many.
Cindy is survived by her daughter, Kimberly "Kim" (Kephart) Sparling, son-in-law Darel Sparling, brother Orrison "Gus" Rice, niece Stephanie (Rice) Griffone and family, niece Elicia Rice and family, and numerous dear friends. She was preceded in death by her younger brother, Dr. David Rice, who passed away in September of 2006.
A very special thank-you to Mom's Pathways Hospice nurse, Adam. He and the Pathways team provided exceptional care for Mom, and always with a spirit of kindness and compassion.
Cindy's remarkable courage was a testimony to her unshakable faith in Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior. She will be greatly missed, because she was greatly loved.
In lieu of flowers, Cindy and Kim decided that donations be made on her behalf to the local Pathways Hospice or the Larimer County Humane Society. A Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 10:00 am on July 10. The church will also stream the service online at the following web address:
