Dale Leroy Rasmussen, 80, of Fort Collins, died Monday July 9th at his home.
Dale was born in April of 1938 to parents Harold and Clara Rasmussen. Most recently, he lived in Fort Collins, and had a vast community of friends and neighbors who loved him.
Dale, or "Mr. D", to many of us, had many hobbies. He loved to go bowling, coloring, play arcade games, shopping for cars and toys, playing catch, watching movies, doing puzzles, playing with his cars, talking with friends and socializing, interacting with kids, watching dance shows, crafting, car watching, being outdoors, listening to music, dancing, collecting cars and figurines, watching Paw Patrol, four wheeling, visiting Old Town, Estes Park and Pearl Street in Boulder, eating out at restaurants, traveling, boat riding, watching football and car racing, opening presents, Christmas time, going to the park, being silly, entertaining, helping and having family time.
Dale was a very silly person who was also loving, kind, generous, humble, hilarious, very caring, compassionate, good humored, animated, and adorable. Though he was mainly non-verbal he was a truly unique individual with so much character and knew how to communicate very well with his gestures and hand symbols. He especially loved making funny faces and gestures to help others laugh.
Dale will forever be remembered by all those whose lives he touched with his humor and genuine personality, including but, not limited to, the staff at Bethage and Mosaic, those in the Fort Collins dance community, his neighbors, friends and other connections he made through his life. Dale was in the care of his host home provider, Myriam Gardner and her family, Dennis Sr., Dennis Jr., and Jessica for the last 21 years of his life. They and their other household member, Amy, will always be grateful for their time spent with Dale and will forever carry his memories in their hearts.
To sum Dale up, we would say he was very playful, adorable, highly animated and hilarious but, most of all, extremely lovable. Oh...and spoiled, he was definitely spoiled. "Whatever Mr. D wants, Mr. D gets."
A celebration of Dale's life will take place at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, July 17 at Grace Community Church in Loveland.
