Dale Souders

There are few men in this world that compare to the one whose story is being told here. His story is filled with chapters that encompass determination, integrity, reservedness, and of course love. His story was written over the course of 88 years; to know him and his true character was to love him and appreciate him.

He loved riding horses and being a cowboy. He raised many a steer, always had a trusty dog for company and spent as much of his life outdoors as he possibly could. His pride and joy was the home he built and the land that surrounded it. This home provided his wife Bea and his two sons, Kenneth and Doug with an everlasting sanctuary. This is the place where he would teach his sons how to be men and where he would agree to let his wife redecorate the house year after year. This house made of brick then became the magical sanctuary for their five grandchildren. Many amazing memories were made on the tire swing that he hung from the backyard tree. He never said no to his grandchildren when they wanted to ride horses, swim in the pool, drive a tractor or be pushed on that amazing swing for hours. His appetite for life was equally as large as his appetite for food. He was well known for his love of "taters" and peanut butter cookies. In his later part of life he gained most enjoyment from sitting on his walker and watching the front yard water for hours.

Dale Everett Souders was born January 1, 1935 in Sterling, Colorado to Frank and Nettie Souders. He was the last survivor of 7 children; Llyod, Cecil, Ray, Marvin, Dorothy and Wayne. After graduating from Fort Collins High School he enlisted in the Army. Dale served on different continents and was eventually discharged with honors in 1959 from Fort Benning, Georgia.

He married Beatrice Miller on May 3, 1963 while living in Denver. At his passing they have been married for 60 years. Dale worked many jobs and "retired" from REA. Of course, he could not be idle and went on to work many other "busy work" jobs and finally "retiring" once more from Poudre School District as a custodian.

Dale is survived by his wife Bea and his two sons; Kenneth(Marla) and Doug(Melissa) four grandchildren; Brenda Williams and Tommy Souders, Everett and Olivia Souders and two great grandchildren Gabby and Michael "Sparkplug" Williams; along with nieces and nephews and extended family.

Dale was preceded in death by both of his parents and his siblings along with his grandson Tyler Souders and many other family members.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 22,2023 at Fort Collins Bible Church, 2550 S. Taft Hill Rd, Fort Collins, CO 80526. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Fort Collins Bible Church.
